Bakelit’s third album ”Wake Up Terrified” to be released on Nov 27th 2026

Bakelit is a new Swedish progressive art rock project, founded by Carl Westholm – known from Carptree, Candlemass, Avatarium, Jupiter Society, Krux, Abstrakt Algebra, Hollingshead and others – with collaborators and friends from Carptree and other earlier projects.

Bakelit’s debut album ”Asleep or Insane” was released in October 2024, with single ”The Coolest Place on Earth” described by Sweden Rock Magazine as “so catchy it could be a hit!”, while The Prog Mind praised the album as “a wonderful record, haunting and full of soil and grime, but in the best way possible.”

Less than a year later, Bakelit returned with ”No Fear of Drowning” and, just like its predecessor, the songs evolved from sessions involving unpredictable electronic machinery and straddle the line between progressive art rock and electronic music. Prog Magazine described it as dripping of macabre elegance and called it ”fascinatingly foreboding, contemplative and ambitious”.

The upcoming, third album in three years is titled ”Wake Up Terrified”, and was recorded during the winter and spring of 2026 with the same line up as the last album, when drummer Jonas Källsbäck (The Night Flight Orchestra, Gathering Of Kings) joined the band. It is an obvious effort to further develop the concept of electro prog and evaluate the interaction between electronic, sometimes randomized, instruments and a rock band!

The album is preceded by the singles ”In a Crash” on October 23rd and ”The Alien” on November 6th. Thank you for listening!
